Meetings & Uniforms
Troop meetings are held every Wednesday night 6:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Bushkill United Methodist Church. The Scout will receive Troop 74’s official neckerchiefs from the troop. When we refer to the Field Uniform (Class “A”), we mean the BSA khaki shirt, with complete insignia and red epaulets on the shoulder straps, and BSA neckwear. If you do not have the official Boy Scout green trousers or shorts, a clean pair of blue jeans is an acceptable substitute. The BSA official green pants/shorts are recommended, but not required in Troop 74.
The Field Uniform (Class “A”) should be worn to all troop meetings, Court of Honor, Flag Ceremonies, Camporees and other outings where the troop is in the public eye. It is still a requirement to wear the Scout shirt whenever we travel for insurance reasons.
We have our own distinctive red Troop 74 T-shirt, which we refer to as the Activity Uniform (Class “B”), when worn with blue jeans or shorts. It is recommended that everyone obtain at least one of these T-shirts.
Meetings follow a theme such as citizenship, hiking or some other scout theme that are of interest to boys. The meetings follow a pattern:
Merit Badge Counseling 6:30-7:00
Patrol breakout 7:20-7:45
Patrol Competition 7:45-8:15
To learn what is happening in the troop, parents are invited to come in and listen to the announcements at each meeting.
